In this over-glamorized, consumer culture, standards of beauty are so rigidly defined as to leave most of the rest of us out of the picture. As a therapist myself, I see the damage this does to my patients in terms of distorted body images, poor self-esteem, and painful strivings toward perfectionism. Great post!
